Word 2000, When the file gets too large, the graphics are stripped out

Why is it that when a word document gets too large, the graphics in it get stripped... the object is still shown, but no picture exists anymore
 
How big is too Big look in Explorer<br>
You can just link the picture so your document will be smaller and the pictures are not part of it.<br>
They show up and print OK but your .DOC is not 128 megabytes<br>
