I'm currently using MS Word 2000. I created a template using a couple of the form functions (drop down menu & text form fields). The template is protected. The template works fine with one exception, it's now allowing me to use the "find" function under "edit". Is there a way around this problem or I'm I just missing something. I appreciate any help you can give me.

Hi CrystalBox,

I'm confused - you post header says you're unable to use the "find" function (which is normal for a document protected for forms), but your post says Word is now allowing you to use the "find" function (which is abnormal for a document protected for forms).

Which is it?

Cheers

I'm sorry, that's a typo. The protected template is not allowing me to use the "find" function. Is there some way around this?

You must unprotect to operate Find; there is no way round it, but you could write your own custom code to do the job.

Part of the reason is that Find needs to select its result and it can't do that in protected parts of a Document.

Enjoy,
Tony
