I do the typing in a busy office and use Word 2000. For a number of reasons I find the small preview pane in the Open dialog very useful when quickly finding a specific document (usually a letter). Recently a change in our letterheaded stationery casued the letter templates to be revised. Now files produced in these new templates show the entire page in the little preview window and the text is now far too small to read! Files created with the old templates still show a section of the page at 100% magnification as they did before! How do I either resize the image in the preview pane or else is their a property in our letter template that has indavertently been changed?

At least in word xp - standard size preview can be used when opening regular word documents. When creating a new document from a template or existing document, only full page preview is available. To get this preview, a document/template has to be saved with preview (ticked checkbox in document properties page). Guess it is so in word 2k too.
Probably you started to use templates instead of documents, that were opened and saved under new name. The solution is either a descriptive name of a template, or creation of empty documents in a separate directory and working in the way "open - save as" (and trace changes in templates...).
