Background: I recently loaded MS Office Pro. 2000 on my new computer (HP AMD Athlon 64 3800+;Win XP). I have been using this on a Win 98 machine.
When I copy text/page from other source (internet), then open Word and paste the info I will get the hourglass pointer and the hard drive will thrash. This goes on indefinitely until I ctrl/alt/del and close msword. It takes several tries and several minutes to close msword and sometimes before it closed the processor is running 100%, even after app closes & I must reboot before the machine runs correctly. If I copy & paste inside Word everything works.
I never had this problem w/Win98. I hadn't updated Office
in a while on the Win98 machine but when I got the new winXp I did install all updates from MS.
Any ideas?
