Word 2000 Macro Help

I am trying to write a Word 2000 Macro to find a bookmark and insert an autotext entry over it.&nbsp;&nbsp;The autotext entry is stored in a template file located on the network.&nbsp;&nbsp;Word's &quot;startup&quot; folder is pointed to that folder.<br><br>I have tried simply recording the macro, but when I try to run it, I get the following error:<br><br>5941: The requested member of the collection does not exist.<br><br>Also, when I look at the macro VBA code, it appears to be trying to insert that autotext entry from the NORMAL template, rather than from the utility template in the startup folder, which is where I inserted it from when I recorded the macro.<br><br>I have found NO resources, either locally or on the web, for professional assistance or consulting in programming Word/VBA macros.&nbsp;&nbsp;Why is this?&nbsp;&nbsp;Any suggestions?<br><br> <p>Aaron Cutchin<br><a href=mailto:admin@bjg.com>admin@bjg.com</a><br><a href= > </a><br>

The best resource that I have found is some of the Wrox books.&nbsp;&nbsp;Some of the O'Reilly books are not far behind.&nbsp;&nbsp;Both have a web site.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br><br>The normal.dot templates are always used first.&nbsp;&nbsp;This is a 'word thing'.&nbsp;&nbsp;Stick your macro in there.

Thank you.&nbsp;&nbsp;The macro is already IN Normal.dot.&nbsp;&nbsp;It is the autotext entry that is in the &quot;global utility&quot; template.&nbsp;&nbsp;I would like to keep it there because I will need to change it every 2 months or so and the updated entry needs to be inserted when any user runs the macro.<br><br>If I put the autotext entry in Normal.dot as well, I will have to instruct all 60 of my users to launch the organizer and copy the new autotext entry to their normal template each time it is changed.&nbsp;&nbsp;In addition, any other macros, AE entries, toolbars, buttons, menu items, etc. that I create or edit in the future will need to be manually copied to each user's Normal template.&nbsp;&nbsp;This is a logistical impossibility, considering the the skill level of my users, and I don't want to have to run around to 60 machines every few weeks.<br><br>Is Word 2000 not capable of using macros and AE entries stored in a template other than Normal.dot?&nbsp;&nbsp;Are there any other ways to set up Word for this kind of centralized configuration and management?&nbsp;&nbsp;I run NetWare as my NOS.<br><br>Thanks again for you assistance.<br><br> <p>Aaron Cutchin<br><a href=mailto:admin@bjg.com>admin@bjg.com</a><br><a href= > </a><br>
