word 2000 drop down menu not showing latest files

I have a workstation the the drop down menu will not show the latest files that were open. Have checked everything that I know. Any one have any ideas?
 
Sort by date Sort by votes
Tools, Options, General Tab, recently used file list - set it to more than zero (in Word 2000).
