Had to recreate a user logon/profile on a XP sp2 workstation because of
another issue. Re-setup email, IE etc. Every things works hunky dory fine
except when the user opens a doc in Word and then selects file-sendto- mail
recipient (as attachement). It seems to send the message w/ attachement
(within Word) with no error message but nothing ever shows up in the "outbox"
or "sent box" of Outlook Express ? I can create/send /receive a email message
with attachment within Outlook with no issues. Perplexing problem!

I will greatly appreciate and ideas,

Karl

I am not sure Word will do it with Outlook Express. It uses an Outlook session (that is, an instance of Outlook) in order to send the mail. Even Outlook Express uses an instance of Outlook to function. Outlook Express is just a different GUI, it still uses the Outlook application object to work.

So when you send the mail from Word, it is NOT (AFAIK) using Outlook Express to send it. It is using Outlook - or rather, an instance of the Outlook application object. Therefore, it does not show up in the Outlook Express sent folder. Outlook Express was never actually involved.

There may be a way for the mail to show in Outlook Express, but I don't think so. If there is, I have no idea how it would be done.

Gerry,

Thanks for your reply.

The user says he has allways done this procedure before
and does use Outlook Express 6.0 as his email client.

I can do this procedure with Excel and watch it dump to the outbox then the sent folder and finally to the inbox as a test with no problem.

In my research on this issue it was metioned to run a re-run setup- repair of Word 2000. The problem is that the CD is missing for MS Office 2000 in their office. The plot thickens.

There was also mention of the win.ini file MAPI settings that need to be looked at.

My hunch is it seems to have something to do with the new profile and rights or something maybe.

Pulling the few hairs I have left trying to fix this supposedly simple problem.

Is there any settings in Word or Outlook that you can think of that I need to check on ?

Thanks,

Karl
