word 2000 and norton av 2

I have a customer who has Word 2k and Norton AV. Word will not open. It starts but then crashes. I read somewhere how to fix this, but I can't remember where and cannot find any info anywhere. I don't know the error message without going round, starting word and reading it myself (customers!)

Microsoft Word 2000 occasionally stops responding when Norton AntiVirus 2000/2001 is installed

Situation:
You are using Microsoft Word 2000 (or Office 2000) and have installed Norton AntiVirus (NAV) 2000/2001. On occasion, when working in Word (for example, when choosing Tools and then Options or when opening a Word document), Word stops responding.

Solution:
There have been scattered reports of this problem, and it is being investigated. It occurs on some computers when both NAV 2000/2001 and Word 2000 have been installed. To work around this, disable the NAV plug-in for Office 2000. Doing so will not disable your virus protection.

Please see the instructions for your version of NAV.

Norton AntiVirus 2000
If you are using NAV 2000, then see the instructions for your operating system.

NOTES:

The command lines that follow assume the default installation path. Substitute the appropriate path for your installation.
Norton AntiVirus Auto-Protect will still provide protection by scanning any file that is launched, downloaded, opened, created, or deleted.

If you are running Windows 95/98
If you are running Windows NT 4.0/2000
Norton AntiVirus 2001
If you are using NAV 2001, then follow these steps:
1. Start NAV.
2. Click Options, and then click General.
3. In the Microsoft Office 2000 section, uncheck "Enable plug-in."
4. Click OK, and then exit NAV.

thanks! I think on the page I got this from, there were actually links that didn't show up on this site. I'm going to tell you have to access the info so you can get to the links:

1.

2. click on service and support
3. I clicked on home user (doesn't really matter)
4. click product and version and continue
5. in both, click on solved sofware issue then continue
6. click on continue to knowledge base
7. type in word 2000 crash then search
8. it's the first item on the list

Thanks, I'll do this next time I go round there. The problem isn't exactly the same, Word won't actually start, but the solution may be the same.
