what happens when you bring a Mgix up with a Orange card that is old? i had a working PBX and since someone stuck a flash card in and rebooted now the the 412 and 024 are gone. did a board renumber and actually defaulted it with no luck but yet the boards still dont show up. just FF what happened?

i have no idea right now. i had a guy doing it remote across the country. Thanks Jack.

You need to go to: menu, maintenance, system, inventory - and see what the display says about processor software release and version. The "orange" card could have been a "forced" install card for "who know's what" processor release.

See what it says - then we can tell you what you need to do. Frankly, if it is a CKE4 processor or better, I would upgrade the software to Magix R4.0, V7. If the processor is a CKE3, I would go with Legend R7, V14.2 - even though the CKE3 cannot handle 016 MLX modules.

thansk also Tom. the tech alraedy left. when i get in front of it ill let you know. thats what i was wondering though, wether or not a card could do a forced upgrade. ive only done upgrades manually. im guessing it was an old card and it killed the boards.

OH YEAH! - Forced upgrade used to be the ONLY ONES I knew about.

And then one day, I killed a MANUAL UPGRADE 'cause I thought it was broken.

After all, where I used to work, BELL LABS always sent me FORCED UPGRADE Cards.

And, the FORCED UPGRADE CARD couldn't care less as to what the current release is, it will just do it's thing.

SO, if you had a Release 3 Magix that knew about ETR ports, and you slammed in a Release 4 Legend that had no clue, and then did a power down and up.

You would be (to say it nicely) Messed Up....
