i'm running xp pro, 2400 athlon, chaintec board, when you shut down it only goes to screen that says its ok to turn computer off and waits until you press power button it's only started doing this as it always shutdown on its own before, its a stupid fault please help

Check your BIOS power settings. Make sure you turn on the following: ACPI, S3 and/or S2 settings. Every board uses different names sometimes, so look for something in those lines in your BIOS. Those are the services the motherboard will respond to when your Windows XP sends the command to shut down power too. You may also need to load them into your XP (check motherboard web site or CD for ACPI or Power Management tools of any kind).

"In space, nobody can hear you click..."

Have you installed anything new lately? You may have a program or driver that's not shutting down properly. Run a spyware check - some spyware doesn't like to release the computer.

tried the bios everything looks ok downloaded new motherboard drivers still no change, any more ideas?
