alright, this has been plauging me for a few days now. when i go to start up my laptop, it powers on, the fan runs... then the fan quits. you can hear the cd rom click a few times, then nothing. it just sits there with no display. it doesnt even make it to the BIOS. every once in awhile while i am trying to start it like this, it will go into a never ending reboot cycle. to get it to turn on, i have to pull the RAM and then put it back in. then it starts fine like nothing happened at all. runs all night and junk, then when i power it off and go to turn it back on at work, the damn thing wont power on again and i have to re-seat the RAM all over again. this is getting on my nerves because i dont feel like pulling my RAM every time i want to use my laptop. any suggestions?

thought i might add this, it started after i let it run all night and when i woke up in the morning, the power button light was blinking orange.

plus to add what the laptop is.

Toshiba Satellite p35-s605
1 gig ram
windows vista business

na, its been around for a year or 2. no problems with it untill now

It sounds like one of the RAM modules or slots may be faulty. To isolate the problem boot up your computer with only one module, testing each module separately. Test each module in slot 1 and then in slot 2, to further isolate the problem. You could also try using a memory diagnostic utility like Windows Memory Diagnostic from Microsoft.

i am going to run memory diag tonight, i found the memtest86 and just have to get a program to let me burn it so it will boot. ill post when i have more information. i figured it was the ram, but not sure if its the fact that it shifts or that it is bad.
