The computer is in a domain and the problem we are haveing is that we set the user up to have administrator rights in the domain and we also did it on the computer, but when we try to add a printer it will give that message "You do not have administrative rights to add devices on this computer please login as administrator" we weren't the ones to setup the domain so I was thinking maybe is a policy somewhere. Any one else have any ideas? Thanks in advance!

u said that u gave him an administartor right on the PC .. try to log in Locally , and add the printer .. Mohamed Farid

Yes that works, but I would like to try and solve this problem with the domain also for future use. Thanks.

In the domain , in the active directory , you will find a policy about printing ..
or u can just add him to the printer administrators group ..

Every printer in the domian has a security tab , u can just add the required permitions to the required user ..

I will try this next time im out that the site, I had to leave and do other things, they are just a client of ours, but thanks :)

You could just add that user on the domain local admin rights on the pc. Then they can be logged onto the domain without domain admin rights and have admin rights to only that computer instead of the whole domain. Open the administrator group on local pc and add the domain user in that way. I would not want to give admin rights to the domain to just anyone.

On the local PC. Go to the control panel and click on users and passwords.Click on the Add button. Type in the user name and below that type in the domain name. click next. Make that user a member of the administrator group. Click the cirlcle that says other to add them in there. Click finish. Now when logged on as that user they will have admin rights to the pc and not to the domain. They can now install printers and software and whatever else that is needed.
