i have a hp desktop but i have my old maxtor hard drive from a older computer that i want to install in the new computer. the problme i am having is that it wont boot. i tried it with all kinds of jumper settings and bios setting and it wont boot. what can i do?

More info. Did you lay down a new install of the OS? what is the OS? are you using 2 HDD's? or just the old hdd from the old PC? What do you mean it won't boot? Does it attempt to load the OS and halt,or give a blue screen?
