Hey All, I'm new to tek-tips, hopefully this hasn't been covered.

My G4 tower 867MHz (running 10.5.3) has been booting fine from an ACARD ATA100/133 pci card with a 320 GB ATA 100 drive.

The computer sees the drive after booting, and also from the Startup System Preference, but it doesn't see the drive at boot time (holding the option key doesn't show this particular drive as bootable).

I've tried reseting the PRAM, hitting the "cuda" button, reseating the pci card, switching power supply cables, putting in another ATA ribbon cable, and switching from cable select to master on the drive itself.

Nothing works, though I'm still able to access the drive fine after the system has booted.

Does anyone have any other suggestions that I might have missed?

I don't have an answer for you, but based on my past experiences with ATA drives, I think you ought to be making sure your backups are working & good.

Chip H.
