Hi Everyone,

I'm a NOOB to Tek-Tips, and am asking humbly for some help.

I'm in the process of building a home music network using wireless. My network is successfully configured and all computers are able to see all other computers, plus the shared folders and devices.

My problem comes in when I try to play some of the MP3s residing on my "main" music PC from other PCs in the network. I have a "main" music folder on this PC that is shared across the network, and individual albums are separated into subfolders of the "main" music folder.

I am able to see all of my music files on all other computers on the network, but only a fraction of the ripped CD track files will actually play on the other PCs, using Musicmatch Jukebox or WMP. The ones I can play and the ones I can't play seem to be separated by time - the ones that play are from a certain period (earlier in the project) and the ones that don't play were created afterward.

All of my music files play fine on the "main" PC they reside on. The other PCs on the network aren't so lucky.

In WMP, I get a "Cannot access the file" error. In Musicmatch Jukebox, I can see these files, but they just won't play. I don't have iTunes installed on any other of the net PCs.

I have a feeling that there may be something proprietary going on between WMP, Musicmatch Jukebox and iTunes, which are all running on the "main" music PC. On that PC, I'm using Musicmatch to rip my CD tracks, and Audiograbber (freeware: audiograbber.com) to rip my vinyl and cassette tapes using my PC's line-in on the sound card. I'm using WMP and iTunes as album/playlist repositories. I also use WMP to burn CD copies of files for personal use.

I have no problem playing any of the ripped vinyl and cassettes, regardless of when they were ripped. The problem is with most, not all, of my CD tracks.

The CD tracks ripped before that aforementioned date play fine on other PCs on the net. The others, making up the vast majority of the CDs ripped so far, do not play, even though they can be seen.

I can't recall any certain event that occurred that would have triggered this anomaly. And I've tried every combo of tricks I know to get these files to play.

Does anyone have any idea what I need to do or to look at in order to get all the tracks to play on every PC?

Thanks in advance for any and all input - it is greatly appreciated!! 8^)
