Hello all-

I installed VMWare Server on my Windows 2003 server, can anyone point out a url link on how to just get started creating a vm on it?

Just a short step by step. This is the freeware version so I am not sure if whether I should be expecting too much out of this product but have heard it can at least allow you create a vm.

thanks

google is your friend. There are literally hundreds of blogs and guides about vmware server out there just try looking.

When I was born I was so suprised I didn't talk for 18 months

What exactly are you trying to do and what program are you using? VMWare Player, Workstation, or Server? Trial versions or free?

Thanks to all

Archwayguy

I am using VMWARE Server (free) to just get acquainted with the product. At this point, just would like to build a VM from scratch.

Once I am comfortable with this process, perhaps begin taking existing vmdk, vmx files and create other vm's from these.

Thanks again

Oh, well then that should be easy enough. I'm assuming you are using VMWare Server 2.0? There are how-to's everywhere...

Try here to start:
as TechyMcSe2k has already stated.

Look here for benchmarking & testing:
Biglebowski is correct as well. Google is your friend. :)

Thanks to everyone,

You are all extremely informative and humble technical warriors (couldn't help it, my 3 yr old daughter and I just watched Kungfu Panda)

All-

Is there anywhere I can grab a general ISO image of a windows 2000 or 2003 standard server so that I can practice building a VM?

Or how can I take my CD of Windows 2003 server and create an ISO.. never did this before and apologize in advance for the 101 question

thanks
blade
