I wanted to check here to see if there was a better way to do this:
BSD webserver using htaccess, and a windows 2003 server running media services. What I'd like to do is restrict access to the 2003 box's MMS and HTTP based on the referrer, so if someone has already logged in to the website (and click an appropriate link) it's seemless to access media files, and if some one tries to hotlink, that traffic is just dropped. Can this be done via ipsec?
I am aware of Flick's Videoquota but that is expensive, and requires 2003 Ent.
I was thinking of just using blackice or something, but that wouldn't be using the http referrer, just the client's IP, which would not work in this case.
These guys ( ) make a very cool isapi addon for IIS that allows you to use htaccess files in IIS, but not WMS, which has it's own funky version of IIS, but it also does not support referrers.
Any ideas?
