.wm file types in system32

hello,

I stumbled across these files looking to free up some space. there are 7 of them about the same file name, 439582E4.wm. They range in file sized from 1.4GB to 50MB. I tried to search and came up with nothing. Windows lists them as Windows media file types. I scanned the files and they came up clean, also tried to play them on my local pc and wouldn't play. Anyone know of these?

We have another 2k sp4 sister server as well, and they are not found on that one. Thank you in advance.

try renaming them .wmv and see if windows media player can play them. If so, then you have someone changing the extension to mask them. Otherwise, Move them to an off site directory and see what breaks

Thanks for the reply. I have tried to play it through Windows media player, but it just gives the cannot recognize the file and so on.

Might just have to move them and see what happens, lol.

you may not have the codec to play them. try using VLC player
