WLAN monitor is confused

I am trying to install the WPC11 Wireless-B notebook Adapter (V4) on my notebook with win98se and it is not going well.

This system used to have the WPC11 V2.5 card in it but that was uninstalled before attempting the first install.

I am trying to install the software but when I hit install from the linksys splash screen I get "The WLAN monitor utility and drivers for the WPC11 have already been installed...Blah blah blah.

I have uninstalled everything in (regular and safe mode)
I manually removed every entry in the registry and sysedit.for Linksys WPC11 and WLAN.
I have deleted the unit using Device manager.
I have manually gone in and shut off all applications other than explorer before attemting the install.


Lynksys said it a Windows Registry problem call Microsoft Their tech support is the worst I have ever seen since Cisco bought them out.

Someone please help me I am out of things to try.

Try:

. Download the newest V2.5 driver/utility set
. Use Google to find "win98 uninstall utility" and download a trial version of one
. With the uninstaller active, install the linksys driver
. Use the uninstall utility to remove it

. Reboot and install your new driver set for V4 WPC11

Open the setup.ini and copy the GUID listed. Open Regedit and find that GUID in the registry and install will work. Only two two days to figure that one out AAAAARGH

I know. It is a huge pain. The hard thing is that the GUID changes depending on the firmware release in some cases.

. Download a free install tracing tool. Get it running.
. Install the "Old" again
. Uninstall it
. Now install the new.

Otherwise, AAAAARGH, as you stated.
