Something is very strange here. I am obviously missing something. I have a cisco lan controller 4402 and I ran through the config wizard with no problem. I made the changes to the switch ports and inserted the GLC-T 1000baseT plugs into the 2 ports on the controller.

I cant get ang connection. Not even the lights in the controller management ports are showing link.

If I run the show port summary the link states are down.
It seems to me like the GLC-T plugs are in wrong, but how can that be. They just slide in.

It should have nothing to do with the config, because I dont even get active led's on the switch or the controller.

What am I missing.
Thanks.....

Were you getting a connection before the changes? What changes did you make? Can you post the config?

Going to ask the dumb question, have you checked your fiber pairs? Do you need to flip the pairs around?

Usually, I would use "show interface" to tell me
- what hardware is inserted
- whether the port is happy with the hardware I put in
- whether it is err-disabled or something.

Thanks stubnski,

That was it. I was going into an older catalyst switch. Changed it over to a gig port on a different switch and "bang". Everything is good now.

Thanks again eveyone.
