This forum seems to be very active. I have some questions about developing a site and would like some suggestions / direction on how to proceed.

I would like develop / install / tweak a photo gallery. While I am somewhat flexible in the functionality, I would generally like it to work as follows:

1. The project would provide a simple gallery where people could simply view / scroll through a directory of photos.
2. The main photo would take up about half the screen with no scrolling required to view the entire picture. (In my initial experiments with FP gallery required scrolling the main picture).
3. There would also be a scrollable text box with comments about the photo.
4. There would be a button to allow the viewer to download the photo. (Generally, these are large photos (~400 – 500 KB) and I would prefer to keep them large.
5. The last bit of functionality is that viewers of the photos could anonymously annotate the pictures. They could add text, but not modify anyone else’s comments (or their own for that matter).

Is there a FP template that would provide this functionality? Anything close?

Would the comments need to be in a database such as Access?

Although I am a novice web developer (I have played around with HTML & FrontPage). I do work with software applications and am therefore not a total computer novice. Is this project too much to tackle given I only have a few hours a week to devote to this? (I would like to have it up within a couple of months).

Thanks for your help!

Hi lizardhead,
I think rather than use the Frontpage Gallery, which is pretty restrictive, I would use a database format instead. This would give you all the options you needed and could be even created using the Frontpage database wizard and you could then create the necessary pages using the 'Insert Database Results' wizards.
I would accomodate the image download facility by creating zip files and pointing a hyperlink to each individual file
