I am a longtime 'C' developer who is new to ActiveX and I
am stuck at square zero.
I created a "MFC ActiveX Control Wizard" Project in
VisualC++ 6.0. I selected all the default options the
Wizard provided, then selected "Build All". The code
compiles and links, then I get a message "Registering ActiveX Control..." and the computer just sits there for several minutes until I reboot. The IDE won't let me exit using any other means. I've tried this several times with the same result. I also tried an ActiveX project off the web and also hung at the same spot.
I tried using regsvr32 to register the control by hand and
that seemed to work fine. But I can't "build" without hanging!
I updated to Visual Studio Service Pack 5, IE5.5, WIn98
Service Packs, etc. but still get the hang.
Has anyone seen this problem? Any cures?
I installed VC++6.0 a year ago and it has worked fine for
WIn32 'C' development. I also installed J++ the same day.
My system is Win98SE, 900 MHz Athlon.
