I need to determine if an Adobe Illustrator EPS file is CMYK or RGB so that my VB6 program can put the file in the correct folder.
How can I do this?
Can anybody suggest a piece of software/OCX/DLL/whatever?

This might be quite difficult because it's possible for an Illustrator EPS to contain both CMYK and RGB data.

.eps stands for encapsulated post script which sorta means it's a set of instructions waiting to be triggered. So like blueark said, it's neither, and it's both until something happens to it. If saved out of .ai I'm pretty sure it will write whatever color mode that paticular file was using into the header of the file when saved. Open one of the .eps's in .ai and check its color mode, then open it in a text editor and see if you can find something in there that matched. I can't read postscript so I can't really tell ya where to look BEHOLD! As Steve Jobs introduces us the latest in desk-lamp technology!
