Hi. I am working on a report in Impromptu that's catalog hits a DB2 database. The DB2 dba cancelled my query and advised that I add "WITH UR" (Uncommitted Read) to my SQL statement. Is it possible to modify the SQL statement the Cognos generates? I looked through the documentation and found minimal information when searching on SQL. . .

Thanks!

Look in the catalog under the User Profiles menu option. On the tab 'Database', there is a group box labled 'Database Transaction'. The options vary by database type, but you may have the ability to change it to an uncommitted read there.

Thanks for the information. . .Unfortunately the catalog was built so that it does not allow me to look at these options. . .I'll have to contact our catalog administrator to have this changed. I also noticed that the "Ability to Enter SQL Directly" is also controlled by the catalog.

Thanks!

I hope that you can make the change at the catalog level, rather than by editing the report SQL directly. If you do edit the SQL, be sure to make a backup copy of the report before you make the change, as you will lose the ability to make further changes to the report after the SQL is edited.

I'm having the same issue. I made the change in the catalog - but the report is still reading as committed. The only way I got around this is by making a change to my DB2 client. Is there a way that cognos can handle this?
