Wiring setting up and programming loud ringing on a Viking PA 2A

I have read the frequent questions and answers on how to connect to the Viking PA 2A paging system it seems unclear To me. I need to install paging and as well as loud ringing does anybody know the best way to do this. Using the Viking paging system. I know there is a auxiliary ringing a source on the block. but the Viking uses contact closures for ringing. And I need to be able to turn the ringer on and off from SET 21 so do I use the night service what type of programming do I need to do please give step-by-step thank you very much.

Do you know what kind of KSU you are working with?
3x8,6x16, 8x24,cics, mics? this info would help to walk you thru programming as the programming format changed about 4 years ago and the pinout on the auxillary port is different depending on the KSU used. ~Will Nortel soon be NoTel??~

The hookup we have in our office and it works with both the PA and AUX ring is:
1. Batt ON
2. Terminals 1 and 4 from the AUX RING from the KSU
3. Terminals 2 and 3 out to the speaker
4. Terminals 4 and 5 from the PA out of the KSU
(Yes terminal four has two wires connected to it)

Thank you for your response . I have read frequent questions and answers as well as your response I have seen that one directed battery on and one directed battery off on the P.A.2A . My next question is programming how can I turn the ringer on and off from set 21 can I do that with the night button. please give step-by-step programming thanks again for your responses

Go into:
Admin

Next

Show the line you want and add any ringing sets if any.
Next (make sure the Aux ring is 'Y')

Program a button on X21:
F*3
Press button to be programmed
Press F871 (prolly 87 but cant loose doing 871 instead)

Please help us help you and leave KSU and software version.

I may be wrong with stating that the batt must be on. the battery is to provide a talk battery when the tel equipment does not supply one itself such as when you hook it up to a spare CO port. Just try it with the batt switch off or on and if it makes a major difference leave it in the best position. JerryReeve
