so I'm going to set up a 100 room hotel with a network jack in each room

the cablings already done just need to do the punch downs and plates

I was thinking of putting an ethernet switch on each floor (20 port - 5 floors) then connecting each switch to a port on a router in the basement thats connected to a dsl modem

sound feasible?

what should I charge per room? I'll be taking off the old telephone plates and replacing with a new 2 port plate so I will have to do the connections on the rj45 and rj11 in the rooms as well as the ends of the cat5 in the closets on each floor - then of course running the cable from each floor to the basement

Well if I were bidding it, I think I would plan for 15 minutes for each room to remove the jack, terminate the phone and Cat5e, and probably 15 minutes per run at the patchrack end. That usually covers me for installing a little patch rack, tying up the cables, gathering parts, etc. If you are running copper between the floors, AND if there is already a chase, I guess I would add an hour per floor for that. Setting up the DSL modem, router, etc. could take some time, for me I would throw in another 4 hours or so.

So I guess, if I were bidding labor I would guess about 65 hours or so. But, thats just me, depends on what I saw at the site.

Hope that helps. It is only my opinion, based on my experience and education...I am always willing to learn, educate me!
