HI ! I am trying to connect my computer to a wireless router Netgear dg834g. I have a network adapter atheros 5001x, and in the properties it says it is working properly. But in the network connection it says 'wirelss network connection not connected' and when i try to view the wireless connections it is empty. I am not good at networking and i went through all the help like internet and the software presentation but still it wouldn't connect. I have no idea what i should be doing next?
I do appreicate any help.
Thanks
Rach

Make sure your SSID is set to the router's SSID and try a static IP address.

There should be an option in the client software somewhere where you can see a list of available wireless networks, this is the 1st step. If you cant see it, make sure your WAP is set up right.

HI Thanks for the response, can you please explain your first reply in detail, where should i be looking for SSID?
thanks

I would start with a wired connectiong and logon to the router to verify that the wireless is turned on.

Is the AP broadcasting the SSID? If not I believe you will have to manually set it before you can connect to it. You can do that by opening your wireless utility and configuring in the parameters. Is this your AP or someone elses? They may have authentication that will require a key possibly, but I guess step one is seeing if you can even see the AP.

You may want to see if there is an update available to the Atheros drivers. We have had to update them here before.
