Wirelss Card Activation

Hi,
I wanted to check if the wireless card is activated and connceted to the wireless access point without logging in. How can I do that?
I want this because I am having problem with connecting to VPN without logging in. When I connect wired, I can start the VPN and connect to the network without logging in but when it is wireless I can't connect to my network using VPN. Even though, I can start the VPN but it doesn't connect so I was wondering if there is any way to check if wireless card is activated before I login.

What you should explore is the various ways to enable the adapter prior to login.

Often this requires local administrator priviliges.

If under Windows, see the facilities possible under the Scheduled Tasks service.
