My wireless card built-in to my laptop won't finish renewing the IP address! I can connect and everything, but it keeps saying that it's working on renewing my IP. But if I refresh the Network Connections folder, it says that it's connected and it all goes away. This is more of an annoyance. I hate seeing that "Renewing IP Address" icon animating itself in the lower right corner. It's connected, so why does it say "Renewing IP Address"? Again, everything is working properly, but Windows doesn't seem to display that it has found an IP. How do I rid myself of the annoyance?

Something is wrong in the DHCP handshake process.
Most likely: another wireless router is responding to the request for DHCP.

More strictly configure XP's wireless autoconfiguration. See the "Cable Guy" from Microsoft, Joe Davies's article on autoconfiguration:

I should mention that a refreshening of your Winsock service stacks often helps. See faq779-4625
