Hi,
Does anyone here have experience with using a webcam as a security device? Ideally what I would like is:

o wireless - connect to router with no need for PC to be on
movement detect
o automatically upload frames to a website, so if the cam is stolen the thief will be caught on cam
o possibly infrared, although this isn't a priority
possibly zoom and pan and control through web interface, although again not a priority

any recommendations welcome, thanks

Rob

We have 16 Axis cameras here at work, and I would definitely recommend them. Look for the 'w' suffix on a model to indicate wireless. Most are capable of what you are looking for - motion sensing, upload to ftp. Pan, tilt and zoom ups the cost quite a bit!

Picture quality can be astounding, when we hand material over to the police after an incident they always comment on how much better it is.

Good luck!

Thansk - Axis does seem to be the consensus, but I am trying the cheaper Panasonic BL-131 as a trial - will report back if I remember I ever started this thread!
