hey all,

A company i know has a wireless network. I am really concerned over the security (as it needs to be good for data protection). Baring in mind this company deals in the financial sector.

Currently the SSID is the company name - and broadcast.

The encryption is WPA2 - and the password consists of the word WLAN, the company name, and another word.

Now i am currently discussing with the person to get this changed. Would people generally agree with me, maybe hacking the network is still not easy - but this is just making it unneccessarily easier?

Thanks

Dan

I would change the SSID to something innocuous and hide it, and change the PSK to something unrelated using, possibly a random generator, with non-alpha numeric characters and crank the Db level down to the minimum for company coverage.

This might reduce the chance of getting hacked.
