One Wireless and 10 wired PC's in a Peer to Peer network using NETBIOS over TCP/IP ... All pc's have the same Workgroup ... 8 port SMC router configured as primary router connected to a Cable modem ... secondary 4 port/Wireless Linksys Router connected in a switch configuration (port 8 SMC connected to port 1 Linksys) ... for some reason the Wireless machine is only available to the wired PC's using an absolute address \\192.168.210.20\<share> ... but the Wireless PC can neither see nor connect to any of the wired PC's ... its as if the Wireless router is not passing along NETBIOS traffic via the wireless connection???

Any Ideas Welcome

Hi,

Are you using WINS or DNS or both? If you run an ipconfig/all on the client, look for DNS and WINS settings on the WLAN adapter. Normally, the unc path with the IP is required when there is a name resolution issue. Let me know if this helps.

Rgds,

John

host name: ark
prime dns:
node : Hybrid
ip route : no
wins prx : no

dhcp : no
ip : 192.168.210.22
snm : 255.255.255.0
gate : 192.168.210.1
dns : 192.168.210.1

wins = enable lmnhost and enable netbios over TCP/IP

Did you add an entry to the lmhosts file? Can you ping the other PC's? If you can ping the wired PC's from the Wireless client, you can always add the entries of the 10 PC's to the hosts file.

Rgds,

John
