I have been told that i can create a wireless connection just using 2 wireless cards in 2 machines.
I have a linksys wireless G USB device in my main machine but the card just keeps saying it can not find a connection and will not activate. It keeps looking for a wireless connection.

Can it be done using just 2 wireless access cards and if so how do I get the device to connect.

Im not used to working with wireless so any help would be great
Thanks

It is actually called an Ad-Hoc connection. You will have to change your network setup on your wireless card to use that method.

I have set the connection on both cards to ad hoc but still have nothing. The USB device will not even activate and this is where im stuck. It just keeps saying not connected.
Here is how its set up.
In my main machine I have
Windows XP sp 2
1 100MB nic (connected to the internet) Firewalled
1 Linksys usb wireless G device (WUSB54G) Non firewalled

The usb was set up using Ad Hoc connection

In the machine upstairs
Windows XP sp1
1 Wireless G PCI Adapter.
I have this also set to Ad Hoc but for somereason they are not talking to each other.
As i say i can not get the wireless USB to even say its connected.
What am i missing.

I using both these devices with a wireless router and have found the actual range on these devices very low. Try moving one device to the same room as the other and see if you can establish a connetion

Thanks for all your advice.
I have now managed to get this up and running and it seems to be working very well.

Cheers
