Hi,
I recently had to run a repair install in XP Pro in order to solve my USB printer problems. I solved that problem, but ever since i did the reair, the wireless hasn't worked. So for example, if you click on the wireless network connection and go to "view available wireless networks" , the "connect to wireless Network" dialog appears, but there are no available networks to select, and so the Connect and Advanced buttons are disabled. So i can only click cancel. However, if i load the linksys wireless config utility and click on the Site Survey tab, it searches and successfully finds the available wireless network. In that dialog it says to select the wireless network and hit connect, but when i select the available wireless network, the connect button is greyed out. Everything worked fine before i did the repair install of XP. So any ideas as to what the problem is? Thanks for any help!

Three issues:

1. If you are going to use the Linksys client software, you must disable the native Wireless Zero Conguration service of XP. You will get nowhere with both running. Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services. Scroll down near the bottom and set Wireless Zero Configuration to stopped, and the Startup to disabled.

2. Apply the XP Wireless rollup package:

3. I hope you are aware that in reinstalling XP you have lost all Service Packs and all hotfixes. You must head to the Windows Update site and become current on your Service Pack, your IE/OE updates, and the security hotfixes.
