Wireless problem with windows XP

Hi all,

I have an issue with my wireless network, that I think may be due to windows XP.

Here is the setup:

DSL modem, router, wireless AP, and another computer are all on a wired LAN in one room. The computer in question is in a different room, hence the wireless.

The wired LAN works perfectly. I can use the computer on the wired network to use the browser based configuration tools on the router and wireless AP.

On to the XP machine. It used to be on the wired LAN, and the computer that is on the wired LAN was wireless (same hardware). We moved, and the configuration needed to be changed. Now, despite having all of my setting the same as I used to have with the other computer, I cannot see the network with this machine. It claims to connect with good signal strength, but I can't ping anything on the network. I get a 'request timed out' message.

Any ideas? I've read everything I can think of on this forum, but I've tried every configuration I can think of. I've tried having WEP on, WEP off, I've both enabled and disabled the network bridge, and I still can't get it to work.

Please help!

Lets start with applying two software fixes:

. The XP Wireless Hotfix Rollup package: Reboot.

. my infamous TCP/IP Winsock repair utility, discussed here: faq779-4625
Reboot.

Now after re-setting the SSID, Channel and Mode (Infrastructure), do:

Start, Run, cmd
ipconfig /all

and post the results here if there continues to be a problem.

Sincerely,
Bill Castner
