We are just starting a new build on our school, included on this is the installation of wireless over the top of our existing network.

I have read that cisco and other vendors supply free software to automate the placements of wireless access points, but I can't find it anywhere?

We will get a full site suvery but this is just as a rough guide.

Any ideas or advice?

Thanks

Hi Steve,
not heard about the Cisco free software but I'd love to know. All I know is about the freeware programme netstumbler ( ) which you can run on a PC preferribly a laptop with a wireless card. It gives you signal strength as you move through a building and also picks up any local Wireless Networks, giving you the SSID etc.
Hope I've been a help.
