Hi,

Is there a safety hazard using a Wireless PCMCIA NIC without the Top Cover?

It was broken (physically) and I got it to work, but the Top Cover was too bent, so I am using this PCMCIA device in my Laptop without the Top Cover.

Hope someone can tell me.

Thanks

Thomas

No, but you might want to cover it with a strip of box sealing tape.

Hi, thanks for your reply. How come?

Thomas

Keeps trash off and would prevent something sharp from cutting the antenna trace.

True, guess I should cover it.

Thanks.

If you don't care if you ever see whatever got exposed you might want to make a jig and pour epoxy over the components. A thick coat of clear silicone might do the trick as well. Make sure of course whatever you put on it is NON-conductive...This will protect it better than tape if it gets bumped( which is inevitable)
