My Wireless PC Card won't connect to my wireless router. It DOES detects the network with a 100% signal strength, there is no WEP, and is using DHCP. However, when trying to connect to the network, nothing happens.

I've downloaded the latest driver for the PC Card. Then I tried connecting to the network it detects with both Windows and the PC Card software. Both haven't worked.

I looked at ipconfig /all, and it says "Media Disconnected" for the PC Card.

Any ideas?

I have got the same problem, and that like to the MS article doesn't work.

Ok thanks, going to have a read through them in a little while.

Just for info, I had the same card in a machine with Win 2003 server and it worked perfectly ok with no problems. My motherboard blew and had to replace this with a new one. I then put Windows XP SP2 on the machine and it's now that I am having the problems. the router works ok as I can connect to it from a laptop using the same brand wireless card. :)

See if there are not newer drivers. Many of the wireless network adapters have had issued new drivers to handle oddities with Service Pack 2. I note that a brand new Dell Dimension 8400 I received last week for my son did not work in a similar fashion until I downloaded and applied the newly issued updated drivers for their wireless products. Linksys and several other adapter manufacturers have similarly issued updated driver sets.

Right, I have a Netgear DG834G router, a Safecom wireless PCMCIA card and a Safecom PCI wireless network card.

I have got the PCMCIA card in the laptop and this is working perfectly ok, connecting to the router and accessing the internet. However using the PCI adapter in a desktop it does not see the router. I am using Win XP SP2 on both machines. I have played around with various config changes, and followed numerous ideas.

I have now removed the drivers that came with the cards and installed a Netgear SMART config utility for the cards and drivers. I can now see the router from both machines, but only if I set the channel to be 1, instead of 11. This then removes any internet access from either machine!

Any ideas? ... :-(

OK, I've changed my router to use channel 6 and all my problems are now resolved.
