In the neighborhood there are a bunch of wireless networks. A toshiba laptop (wireless managed by XP) keeps insisting on connecting to unsecured networks of others instead of the secured one it is supposed to.

I've tried changing the wireless channel (twice) and that worked for a while but after a week the laptop started connecting to another network.

How do I fix this? Is there a way to get XP to not automatically connect to networks that are not in the wireless profiles? (Or how do I stop XP from adding profiles for other networks?)

Thanks in Advance.

I had this problem with my daughter's PCs connecting to the across the street neighbor's network...

Click Wireless Network Status, then View wireless networks. In related tasks, click Change the order of preferrred networks. In Preferred networks, highlight the network that you do NOT want to connect to, click Properties, then click the Connections tab. Under "Whenever this network is detected..." remove un-check the box for "Connect when this network is in range" Repeat for other undesired networks.
