while trying to install a wireless network everything seems to work ok except that when the computer is rebooted the "use windows to configure my wireless network settings" keeps unchecking. i have tried my laptop (inbuilt wireless)and all works ok, this other laptop using a wireless card has the problem. both computers use xp pro sp2 any ideas and my thanks to any answers or ideas.

Can you specify the device brand & type, and what application it is you 'check'?

You may manually start the Wireless Zero Configuration service. [START->Run, type services.msc, hit [ENTER].

Have you tried removing any third party wireless configuration software installed on the laptop to ensure that Windows is really managing your wireless connection?

Hey Jim...the reason behind this is security. Laptop manufacturers are putting a wireless button or switch on laptops so they don't get blasted while you're having a cup of joe at starbucks. Its a security measure. Often times extreme. I have to press the wireless button on my laptop every time I startup my computer.

Haven't found a way to enable it to activate on startup. Will post back when I do.
