Wireless networking with vpn and gaming

Hi - I have three wireless computers and one wired on my home network. One wireless requires vpn connection, and have a pc upstairs used mainly by kids for gaming. All have g cards. If I try to set up security on connection, vpn laptop won't connect. I just bought a netgear wgt634u router, but can not get a good connection on the gaming pc. What would be ther best router for this set-up?
I had a linksys before this and the range was good, but was 802.11b, and could not secure because of the vpn. Thanks for your help.

I have a Linksys 802.11b/g router at home, and I use a laptop (wireless) to connect to a VPN as well. I only have some basic security on mine - MAC filtering, but everything works OK. The only small issue with mine is that i reuired to have an ethernet modem as well, but everything works fine.

- what type of security (WPA / WEP / other)? Have you confirmed that the chosen security is supported by the laptop wireless chip / card?

can not get a good connection on the gaming pc

- is the gaming pc at limits of range? Have you tried using NetStumbler to monitor the connection? What type of card is the gaming pc using? Which Operating System is installed? (ie are you using Windows XP Wireless Zero Configuration or the supplied card utility?). Have you tried switching from the default channel on the router?

Please provide further information about both machines and what you have tried so we can assist.
