Hi my D Link Airplus 650+ does not seem to work properly.
Here is Setup.
1.Hp laptop ze4210 w/cardbus adapter w/ all the latest drivers from Hp
2.Windows Xp pro w/ all the updates
3.Funk software client.

The problem i am having is that several minutes after i have booted my laptop the client (Funk Software) automatically detects the access point at my university and authenticates. The software i have installed (came with the D Link card) even indicates what access points are present as well as the signal level. Here is where things seem to go wrong. I cannot ping anywhere i cannot surf the net. I have tried updating the drivers of the D Link card as well as making sure the cardbus adapter's drivers are updated (what is the latest edition?) I tried disabling my ethernet lan still no luck. Has anybody encountered such a problem?

. Remove the D-Link client software using MSCONFIG:

Start button, Run, msconfig

Look in the "Startup Programs" folder, and uncheck the D-Link client.

Better yet, see if there is an entry under Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs for the D-link software. If so, remove it all.

Reboot.

Second, remove with Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, the Hotfix Q815485 from Microsoft if it is installed. Let Funk Software handle the WPA issues;

Third, do not enable 802.1x authentication if given a choice on the client unless you know that RADIUS or other 802.1x is being used by the University. Ask them.

Finally, Control Panel, Admistrative Tools, Services, scroll down until you see the Windows "Wireless Zero Configuration Service." Stop the service, and set its Startup configuration to "Disabled."

reboot.

Thankyou for your reply and yes my University does use Radius.

It is likely you are using WPA:

1. Use Funk, and not Funk in combination with D-Link Client and/or XP's Wireless Zero Configuration with the WPA Hotfix. Follow the instructions from my earlier thread to remove the D-Link client, the XP Hotfix, and the XP WZC service.

2. Do not try to implement WEP and WPA at the same time. There is no reason to, and in 802.1x settings can cause a loss of connection:
