HI

I am in the UK and have set up cable networks but I have a private customer who wants a laptop on windows 2000 and a pc on win XP set up on a wirelss network.

The XP machine will be the host, they have an NTL cable DSL BB conection.

I have read some people saying that they have had problems with some wireless networks which I want to avoid this customer is a good customer of mine.

Budget is to be coinsidered but reliability is more important, for me as well as them.

If anyone can recommend a system it would be appreciated.

Thanks

The problem isn't really the connection, it's more the security. People don't realize that wireless means, no wires, which also means, anyone near it can connect to it... inlcuding people you don't want!

You must make sure you setup the security WEP (Wireless Encyrption Protocol .. i think) in the hub / router / switch / other net card).

The debate that is actually going on is that many people say that wireless was rushed in too fast and WEP is not secure enough. They have developped now, what is called WAP (Wireless Authentication Protocol.. I think). Which has a larger encryption bit rate and that is considered to be the next step in evolution for wireless. Of course, you need to make sure that both ends support it..... that's what all the fuss is about...
