Got a new laptop in at the office today. Trying to connect it to the wireless network. When I don't do it manually it says limited or no connectivity. When I do it manually says connected, no restrictions, but it still won't connect to the internet. I ran out of ideas. Does anyone out there have some?

What are the manual parameters you are putting into the NI(C and what kind of wireless are you connecting to?

It is a wireless network at the office. Am going off of another laptop in the office and it should be working. When I manually configure the NIC I put in an IP address, default gateway, and two DNS servers. Still can't connect to the net with them in there.

Are you using the embedded wireless that came with the laptop?

Does it give you the option to search for available networks in range?

If not your wireless zero configuration might not be started.

Go to Start on the taskbar, click on run and enter services.msc in the run dialog box and click enter.

That opens the local services, and scroll to the bottom and look for wireless zero, click on the configuration and make sure it is set to automatic.

Yes I'm using the embedded wireless. Yes it gives me the option to search for available networks. Yes the wireless zero configuration is started and set to automatic.

When you manually configure your NIC, can you ping the wireless gateway?

Is the network encrypted?
