Hello,

I have wired BEFSR41 linksys router and would like to connect that to an antenna. considering this one:

Then on the other end (less then a quarter of a mile away) have the WAP11 access point pick up the signal.

Would this work?
If so how do i connect my router to the antenna?

Thanks in advance,
Adam

First, the BEFSR41 is not a wireless router. There is no place to connect an antenna.

Second, a WAP11 will only bridge to a WAP11.

So, assuming you have clear line of sight between the two units, you would need two WAP11s and two antennas.

I dont really have a line of site, there is a couple houses in the way but by the description of this antenna it should be able to go through obstructions, especially if the distance is less then a quarter of a mile. Here is the antenna i am looking at:

Please give me your comments,

Thanks,
Adam

Microwaves are very easily reflected. I would say unless you can elevate the antenna on both sites so that there is a clear line of sight the chance of this working are small to none.

AMF18, perhaps you didn't thoroughly read bcastner's original response. The Linksys BEFSR41 is NOT a wireless router. The antenna you list is for an 802.11b wireless router with an SMA antenna jack. The BEFSR41 has no such jack nor does it have any wireless capabilities. Please clarify which router you really have.

YES, i know the BEFSR41 is NOT a wireless router. I was just asking if i could connect that to an antenna.

The antenna would have to connect to an Access Point (AP) and the AP would connect to a hub/switch which would connect to your router.
