Hi Folks,

I have the following scenario:

2 x wireless access points in different rooms with over lapping coverage. Connected via ethernet cable.

2 x SSID's (WPA)

1 x ADSL line

How can we have one SSID for both access points so wireless adapters can connect to the stronger access point without user intervention.

Note: There is an overlap between these access points so we can't use when one is unavailable.

why would it matter? as long as the connect, they have the same connect to the same lan, same access.. if the user moves the connection switches to the other access point.

wireless takes care of that problem and is the only reason it works

You have to use WDS (google to find out more about wds) with 1 AP and 1 repeater. The only problem with these home made solutions is that it doesn't have true roaming between the wireless stations and the network itselves. When in a call the call will basicaly cut off when roaming from 1 AP to the other. If not in a call you can roam between the AP's with some restrictions. If you need roaming while in a call, buy a nice wireless controller that controls the corresponding compatible AP's. Take a look at MC-505 and MN-AP208 from Meru. It's a nice cheap solution from 1 to 5 AP's...
