Here's an interesting scenario .....

I've configured a WAP to operate on our LAN.

It appears as a wireless network device in the available wireless networks.

Immediatley after setting up the configuration I set a PING to the devices static IP address.(I get a successful response)

About 50 minutes later the PING drops and no response is received. The device still remains visible in the available wireless networks view, but no one can connect to it.

A quick power reset of the device resolves the problem, but again, 50 minutes later it drops.

The device has an identical configuration as one of our other sites - they do not have any problems with theirs.

I guess it could be a LAN problem, but haven't a clue what to look for or indeed how to look for a problem.

Any ideas??????

what make/model is it ???

Ah yes, good point ....

D-Link DWL-2100AP

Although I have tried the 3-com OConnect Wireless 108Mbps 11g PoE and got the same result.

It's gotta be something on our LAN, but I dunno what!!!

Cheers

funny i was setting up a AP 2000 i have not moved over to WAP so dont ask me about that!!!
I noticed on the DLINK web site there are software upgrades check the back of you AP to see if it's up to date!! take heed of doing this through wireless ie dont lol

i also saw this below on the site does it affect you!!!

SSID Broadcast
Indicates whether the SSID of your wireless network will be broadcasted. The default value of SSID Broadcast is set to "Enable," which allow wireless clients to detect the wireless network. By changing this setting to "Disable" wireless clients can no longer detect the wireless network and can only connect if they have the correct SSID entered.

I have had a Intel which does the same thing as your saying ..i found the help desk a DLINK quick and to the point so i may sugest u ring them if no other solution found ps the UK help desk i was talking about

good luck

By jove I think I've got it !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Upgrade the firmware to v2.1

PS
Initially, D-Link themselves gave me a link to a firmware download. Having downloaded this, it would NOT update to the device. After spending considerable time searching for solutions (and talking to D-Link again), I decided to download the file again. This time, the upgrade worked. It turns out that the download link D-Link gave me was the American version my second attempt was the English version.
