I realise this has often been asked about, so apologise in advance. In my defence, if I had realised what a nightmare this area was, I would never volunteered to help!
A friend has two PCs, both on XP. Master or host is connected to broadband. Both have P2P wireless network cards installed. Each are set to DHCP and both have differing IP addresses on the same network. Both PCs can 'ping' the other. The slave or client PC has managed to see, create and modify a file on the host PC.
What I cannot get it to do, however, is use the ICS. The host PC is fine; but the slave cannot (or is just bl***y minded, and WILL not) connect to the internet.
I have trawled Microsft site and tried all the troubleshooting TIDs; I have reset, reinstalled, retested in vain. I have manually configured IP addresses (it didn't like that at all!). The only thing left to do is attack with a hot soldering iron ;-)
I would be grateful if someone could put me out of my misery - I have been at this on and off for several days...
Thanks in advance
Penny
