Hi ALL,

I need some help with Wireless connection. I live in a flat and have a shop downstairs (not litraly downstairs but just about) .

I have a wireless router setup in the shop for the internet access. and it works fine but i cannot access the internet from my bedroom in the flat though it works fine from the kitchen.

It think it is the connectivity issue. i need to know which network card or USB Dongle would cover the most distance. Fincance isn't an issue. I want to get the internet access.

Many Thanks!

Are you able to reverse the situation router in flat access in shop, i suggest you have the umbereller effect as i call it.. just out coverage!! imagine the router being at the bottom of the handle and your flat sitting on top of the brolly. just enough signal to see but not enough coverage to play!!
the only other way is to set up a repeater in the flat to boost the signal!!!

Look for a card that can take a external ariel.

Only the truly stupid believe they know everything.

Let me make a simple suggestion.

experiment with the polarization of the antenna.

The router is probable in vertical mode and your laptop-s internal card in horizontal mode.

Lay you router on its side (or stand it up if already on its side) and see if it helps.

Hey, you got nothing to lose, try and see, and let us know.

Check out whether or not you can replace the antennas on your router or network adapter. My local Radio Shack had a set of high gain antennas that would fit on my Linksys router (WRT54G). It definitely helped in my situation.

I thought of another thing that may help, I do it by routine and just overlooked menitioning it.

I had a location that was up and running fine and one day it developed problems. Investigation using "netStumbler" showed 4 new radios had been deployed on my same channel.

After talking with the guy that deployed them (a golfing buddy)I had to change channels as he wouldn't. anyway; I changed channels and the problem was solve.
