This is an ongoing problem with my wireless. From a previous post I was having an overheating issue but my wireless has be funky for a long time even when my room isn't too hot.

I'm using a Linksys WRV54G with the latest firmware. I thought the firmware update might fix the issue but it didn't. At random times the wireless light turns amber and then non of my pc's on wireless can even see the SSID of the network, yet my wireless print server still works. The WRV54G still works as my wired pc's are fine and can still print to the wireless print server.

The only thing that fixes it is a reboot of the router. I've tried EVERYTHING on the pc's to avoid reboots and found that a reboot is the ONLY thing that fixes it.

I figured it was just some reandom bug or something until recently when this lady in my neighborhood started making a stink about he guy across the street and his 30 foot radio antenna in his back yard. I never noticed it before (I know how did I miss a 30 foot radio antenna? lol). It got me thinking that MAYBE the antenna is interfering with my wireless from time to time. I had a similar issue at my last job's Vegas location. The office was located basically across the stree from the Air Force bases north of Las Vegas. Everytime a fighter took off over the building the wireless dropped.

Can a large radio antenna in such close proximity cause interference and make my wireless drop like this? I;ve tried changing channels and stuff and it still does it from time to time.

You bet it can! To update yourself on radio interference, you might start by reading the Linksys documentation and try the any solutions they suggest, or you could just use the wired Ethernet instead. You could also Google the subject matter and see what comes up.

Happy researching...

Thanks, I thought it could, I just wanted to make sure. I'll have to read some stuff from Linksys.
